America’s Original Wonder Women: The Best Kept Secret in American History
March 8 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
“We have a voice because they used theirs.”
Gather with us on International Women’s Day for an educational, eye-opening, and inspiring presentation led by Pat Wirth. You will learn about the five million wonder women who fought for more than seven decades to win the vote. You’ll also learn about the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial, the first national memorial that will be built in their honor. Women from every state, race, religion, creed, and nationality overcame a myriad of challenges and adversity to put women into the Constitution. They engineered the greatest expansion of democracy on a single day the world had ever seen. We will discuss the significant roles of the League of Women Voters, General Federation of Women’s Clubs, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority played in winning the vote. Too bad the authors of our history textbooks didn’t think this was important and left it out – a bloodless revolution that revolutionized America!
This is a fundraiser event and proceeds will be donated to bringing the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial to reality. Tickets are $25. If you are unable to attend but would like to donate to this important memorial, please select that option from the list below.
Light refreshments will be served.
About the Memorial:
Turning Point Suffragist Memorial Association (TPSM) is building a national memorial to American suffragists – with a special focus on those imprisoned at Occoquan, VA, who endured harsh conditions and abuse to win voting rights for American women. The memorial will honor these brave women and provide awareness and education about how their courage, methods and commitment led to the passing of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution. We owe these women the honor of a Memorial. Join, donate and get involved!
