Navigating Local Government to Elevate Your Business + Community
September 24, 2019 @ 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm
Each day, dozens of elected officials in Fairfax County and Virginia’s General Assembly make decisions that impact YOU, from the roads you drive on to the taxes you pay on your business and home. Here in Fairfax, among many other topics, policies about immigration and judicial policies are made and enforced – while in the state government, laws about gun violence prevention, equal rights, and environmental protections are decided upon.
Bring your lunch and come learn about the complex structure of your local government, and how you can be heard – and why it’s so important.
With a big local election happening on November 5, this is a great opportunity to learn why your vote is so critical and how to advocate for your values. While the focus is on Fairfax County, information is applicable to other Virginia counties.
